The Grahamstown District falls mainly within the Eastern Cape Province. We have some urban and inner city work, but most of the work in our district is rural. We have incredible natural beauty and a rich cultural heritage.
Many circuits have programmes of upliftment, as the the Grahamstown District is situated in one of the poorest provinces in our country. We face a major missional challenge of having to alleviate poverty in our communities, with issues of HIV, unemployment, child-headed households and accompanying social issues, as challenges. Ministries include home-based care, soup kitchens, vegetable gardens, giving children school uniforms, havens for abandoned babies, skills development projects, child care, and district evangelism campaigns to targeted areas.
We have one church school, Kingswood College, in Grahamstown.
